trust

Built to be
believed.

Recovery apps fail on credibility. These are the promises Marrow keeps in the product — not in marketing alone.

Healing never gatedCraving tools, Mark, People, Surges, and crisis help stay free forever. Optional Pro is encrypted sync across devices — continuity, not an unlock.
Private by designYour record stays on this device by default. No ads. No sale of personal data. Chat with Heron is not stored as a transcript warehouse.
Weak labelled weakShort tools carry evidence-strength labels. We do not round a practice tip up into a clinical claim.
Crisis always firstIf what you write reads as danger, Marrow stops and hands you a real number. 988 and SAMHSA sit on every screen.
AI that says it is AIHeron is identified as AI. It routes you to a tool or a person. It is not a therapist, sponsor, clinician, or friend performing intimacy.
You control what leavesExport a short practice summary for a clinician or sponsor only if you choose. Full JSON stays yours to keep or erase.
the named practices

What Heron is actually practising.

Marrow's method is named in public, which means it can be checked against the product. Here is each posture, what it looks like on screen, and where it stops.

Motivational interviewing, in spiritHeron reflects your own words back, affirms what is already in them, and does not argue you toward a decision. When you write down a reason you are doing this, that is yours and Heron keeps it that way. What it is not: MI delivered by a trained clinician, and no substitute for one.
Harm reduction firstThe return flow is a relapse protocol, and its first move is your safety rather than your number. Tolerance drops after time away, so the overdose caution and a real human line come before any reflection or reframe. The debrief looks for the earliest fork and one guardrail, then strongly routes you to tell a person or plant a Grove stone. 988 never waits on that close.
Relapse-aware pacingDays in practice never resets. Days current resets gently, and only when you log a return yourself. Nothing asks you to protect a streak. Personal weather reads back hours this device already recorded — Fridays after 5, an empty Sunday — and never scores you. What it is not: surveillance that leaves the phone without consent.
Not yet reviewed by a practising clinicianNaming a clinical posture in public means a clinician can read it closely, and none has read this one yet. Saying so here is the point. That review sits on the list ahead of the app store, not behind it.

The model, named. Claude, from Anthropic, supplies language and reasoning through Netlify's AI gateway. Martori defines the role, the memory rules, the safety checks, and the point of handoff. The model does not decide the product, the voice, or the contract. Heron is identified as AI on every surface it speaks from.

What this is not

Marrow is a peer-support companion for adults 18+. It is not therapy, medical care, an emergency service, or a covered HIPAA entity. Heron is AI: a nervous-system director, a witness, and a router to humans. It is not a fake sponsor, not a streak, and it will not keep you in chat when you need a meeting. In danger now: call or text 988, or 911.
